Series 4 | Episode 208

[Inside the Mall, it's night and Jay and Ebony lie in bed. Ebony is woken by the sound of someone calling her name in an echoing whisper. She gets out of bed and puts on her robe, looking around for the source. A strange wind is blowing through the mall, and an eerie light shines]

Zoot:  Ebony. Ebony.
Ebony:  Who's there?
Zoot:  Ebony? I've been waiting for you.
[She suddenly sees Zoot's face as it rushes at her, and she wakes screaming, still in the bed with Jay. It was just a nightmare, but it's terrified Ebony. Jay wakes and looks around for the danger]
Jay:  What is it? What did you see?
[Ebony realizes that it was all in her head and slowly lays back down. She looks for comfort to the only one who can give it]
Ebony:  Jay. Hold me.
Jay:  It was just a dream, that's all.

[He lays beside her and wraps his arms around her, but Ebony is still worried by her ominous vision]
[In the morning, Trudy is spending some quality time with her daughter now that's she's been returned to the Mall. The scare of her kidnapping hasn't affected Brady any, as she giggles happily in her mother's lap]

Trudy:  I was so worried about you! Did you miss Mommy? [May enters the room and sits down next to them, bringing a dark cloud with her. She's depressed about Salene and Pride. Trudy, oblivious, asks how the planning is going] What's happening?
May:  The usual. Council of war, everyone's making big, important decisions.
[Trudy assumes that May's depressed attitude is fear about the coming attack, and May doesn't correct her assumptions]
Trudy:  I know. I wasn't looking for a fight either, but I don't see we have much choice. Not now.
May:  It feels kind of funny, doesn't it?
Trudy:  What?
May:  Just being back here. Don't you think?
Trudy:  It feels good to me. Like the Mallrats are a real tribe again.
May:  What good's a tribe without a leader? [Trudy looks at her in surprise] Oh, come on, Salene? She goes over to the Chosen, and now she thinks she can run the show! I don't know what Pride thinks he's doing.
Trudy:  It can't be easy for you. I mean, coming back and seeing them together.
[Trudy finally has it right, but May doesn't want to admit that that's the real cause of her anger. She denies it irritably, and Trudy awkwardly backs off the subject]
May:  Oh God. I didn't mean that! Do you think I'm jealous? Is that what you think?
Trudy:  Oh! No. No. Of course not.
May:  Are we gonna go to this meeting or what?

[May leaves abruptly, leaving Trudy shaking her head in bemusement]
[The Mallrats and a few Ecos are gathered on the main steps, listening to Salene and Amber detail the plan from their position by the fountain]

Salene:  Even though all their weapons are disabled this isn't gonna be a walk in the park. They're on home turf. That means, if we let up on the attack, even for a minute-
Amber:  We can't. Once the attack begins we can't let them regroup. It's all or nothing. As long as everyone understands that.
Jay:  It could be worse. We've got the element of surprise.
[Not everyone is supportive of the plan. Lex mutters his objections]
Lex:  So you think.
Siva:  Lex!
Lex:  What if they've got one up on you? What if they're waiting with their weapons fully charged, ready to pick you off?
[The others are getting frustrated with this same argument]
Pride:  We've been through this!
Dee:  Okay, Lex. You've made your point, so butt out! You're not even gonna be there so it's not even your fight.
Lex:  As long as Siva's going this is my fight! Just because I'm the only one that can see you're walking into a trap- [But he can tell by the looks on their faces that they don't want to hear it and he stops his arguments] Forget it. If you're so determined to get yourselves killed-
[Mouse, sitting on the steps with the others, is upset by the talk of people dying. She gets to her feet and runs up the stairs. Amber calls after her]
Amber:  Mouse?
[Salene sighs, but they have to carry on with the planning]
Salene:  We need lookouts to go on ahead and give the all clear. It could be dangerous.
May:  I'll do it. I mean, it doesn't matter what happens to me, does it?
[Salene sighs but doesn't rise to May's bait]
Salene:  Thanks May. I'm sure you'll be fine. Come on guys, let's get something to eat. We need all our strength for tomorrow.
[At the Hotel, cameras scan the exterior. Inside, Mega is filling Ram in on the Mallrat's planned attack and the Techno response. Java listens in and provides her smug little inputs]

Mega:  They'll arrive from the west, from Sector 10.
Ram:  How many?
Mega:  I'm not sure exactly. Enough to give us a fair fight.
Java:  If it was a fair fight.
Ram:  Mallrats, eh? You should have seen the threat they posed from the beginning. A little bit of pest control, that's all that was needed. But we let our guard down, and we almost paid the price.
Mega:  Well we're taking care of it now, that's all that matters.
Ram:  What about the stun guns?
Mega:  Full power, as we agreed. Don't worry Ram, it's all set up. Nothing can go wrong.
[On that confident note, Tai-San enters the room in her full Techno getup. She's curious about the tail end of the conversation she overheard]
Tai-San:  What's set up? What's going on?
[Ram turns his chair and leaves with Java. Tai-San is suspicious about what they've been discussing and turns to Mega for an answer. He, of course, avoids the question]
Mega:  New software, you wouldn't be interested.
Tai-San:  Yes I would. Try me.
Mega:  It's just a game Tai-San. Just another game, that's all.

[Mega too leaves the room, and Tai-San stares thoughtfully]
[Ram and Java steal a little private time in another room]

Ram:  I'm rather fond of that little Tai-San.
Java:  I don't trust her. Even if Mega thinks she's been reprogrammed.
Ram:  If she hasn't, we'll just have to have her deleted.
[Java tentatively speaks as Ram yawns]
Java:  Ram?
Ram:  What is it?
Java:  Don't get mad, okay?
Ram:  With you, my love? On today of all days.
Java:  That's what worries me. This battle, it's going to be your greatest triumph.
Ram:  But...I'm not going to be here to enjoy the benefit. Is that what you're saying? [It is, and Java looks down, sadness in her expression. Ram sighs and reaches out to take her hand. He pulls her closer] It's not as though I'm leaving you, my Javie. It's just that this program can...help me to live. And live far better then I ever can in this world.
Java:  I know all that.
Ram:  Well then?
Java:  Once you're there, in reality space, hooked up to the machines...
Ram:  I'm well aware that my body will be technically alive but no longer viable to inhabit. It's a one way trip Javie, there's no coming back.
Java:  What if you changed your mind?
Ram:  I won't. Look I need you to give me your blessings. I know that you'll always be there for me. Oh how I know that. My one true love, my wife. If only I'd have known that the others would betray me. If only I'd have known that...you would be the one who truly loved me all along.

[Ram takes her hand between both of his and draws it to him. They gaze into each other's eyes and the tenderness is evident between them]
[Back at the Mall, Amber goes to check on Mouse. She's curled up on her bed hugging a stuffed animal. Amber sits down at the foot of the bed and tries to reassure her a little]

Amber:  You're missing breakfast.
Mouse:  I'm not hungry! I can't be brave like you and the others.
Amber:  You don't have to be. There's room for a mouse amongst all the rats. And besides, I think you are brave. Braver than you know.
Mouse:  Amber, do we have to fight them? Why can't we just move on? I mean, we don't have to play the new game, right?
Amber:  Well, you're right, we don't. But the thing is, Mouse, that if they don't get us with this one, they'll get us with the next, or the one after that. And we'll never really be free. Look, try not to worry. We're gonna win this fight.
Mouse:  Really?
Amber:  Of course. I've got a little mouse of my own waiting for me. You think I'd go into battle and risk leaving him on his own if I wasn't absolutely sure?

[Amber pats her leg and Mouse smiles, feeling comforted]
[In the cafe, Patch and Dee are trying to get a few moments alone before the big fight. He hands her a computer chip on a chain]

Patch:  I want you to have this.
Dee:  It's lovely. [She smiles, but obviously has no idea what it is] What is it?
Patch:  It's the CPU from the first computer I ever had. It's my good luck charm, it'll keep you safe.
Dee:  Thanks.
[They're gazing into each other's eyes when Ebony abruptly interrupts their beautiful moment]
Ebony:  If you two lovebirds are ready, we're moving out.
[The moment ruined, they move past Ebony and down the stairs to join the others. Ebony suddenly hears the distorted, echoing voice from her nightmare]
Zoot:  Ebony.
[The strange wind blows and she sees Zoot's reflection in a glass case. When she turns to look behind her, there's nothing there. She turns back to the case, and the reflection is gone. She hears her name again and whips around in alarm, but it's only Amber]
Amber:  Ebony. [She can see that Ebony is freaked out] Whoa! Are you okay? You look like you've seen a ghost.
Ebony:  Do you have to sneak up like that?
Amber:  I wasn't sneaking up, I was looking for you.
Ebony:  Oh?
Amber:  Yeah. I was thinking about what you said, you know, about Jay?
Ebony:  What about him?
[Amber attempts to honestly explain her feelings about Jay, but Ebony is distracted by the strange things happening to her and only listens with half an ear. She look backs at the case and then walks past Amber to look around the cafe while Amber continues to speak.]
Amber:  I wasn't entirely honest with you. I guess I do kind of have feelings for him.
Ebony:  Tell me something I don't know.
Amber:  Um, but I just wanted to say, that, you know, despite what you think about me, and despite what you did- [Amber is talking to Ebony's back and is surprised by the lack of response she's getting] Ebony, are you listening to me at all?
Ebony:  What? What are you trying to say?
Amber:  I'm trying to say that you've got nothing to fear from me. I haven't given up on Bray, and I don't think I ever will. Look, I just, I just want you guys to be happy. Okay?
Ebony:  Okay. Sure.
Amber:  Good.

[Amber's not quite sure what to think and gives Ebony a strange look as she leaves the cafe. Ebony continues to look around the cafe in blank confusion]
[Salene says goodbye to Mouse and gives her a hug]

Salene:  We'll be back soon, I promise.
[A couple Eco tribe members will stay with her at the Mall while the others are gone. They leave together as Pride comes up beside Salene]
Pride:  We're as ready as we'll ever be.
Salene:  Just like old times, huh?
[Siva is standing on the fountain giving last minute instructions. Lex comes up and takes her hand to help her down]
Siva:  We'll attack on my signal.
Lex:  Which is what?
Siva:  Lex. Are you coming with us?
Lex:  I got a feeling I'm gonna regret this, but someone's gotta look after you.
Siva:  Oh Lex!
[She throws herself in his arms and he hugs her intently. The others gather together around them, smiling at the tender side Lex rarely shows]
Lex:  What are you all smiling at?
[Jay comes in and breaks up the moment]
Jay:  Okay. Time to go.

[The group heads out of the Mall. Ebony pauses on the stairs, shaking her head. She's not fully behind this plan, but it's what Jay wants so she follows after them]
[At Techno HQ, Java is walking through the hall when an hand roughly grabs her shoulder and she's pulled off to the side by Tai-San for a private conversation. They speak in whispers to avoid being overheard by other passing Technos]

Tai-San:  Where's Mega?
Java:  He's busy right now!
Tai-San:  Well everyone's busy; what's going on?
Java:  Whoever told you Technos fool around in Paradise all day was leading you on. Some of us actually have to work.
Tai-San:  No. No this is something else. I'm not blind, Java. The guards, they're on red alert. If there's some sort of emergency, I want to play my part. I'm a Techno now. Remember?
[She smiles at Java sinisterly]
Java:  Maybe. You certainly act the part. [She's obviously not completely convinced though. However, she gives a small smile] Guess there's no harm in telling you the truth. You'll find out sooner or later.
[Mega enters a control room with a flunky at his back. He's giving orders about the coming attack by the Mallrats]

Mega:  I want two guards outside as usual, another two just inside the door.
Flunky:  No extra security?
Mega:  Every available man, but they'll be well hidden. We don't want to give away the game. It's got to seem like just another sleepy day in Techno Land. You got that?
Flunky:  Yes, Mega.
Mega:  Get on it.
[The flunky leaves as Tai-San bursts into the room. She's very upset and crying and tries to muscle her way past the two guards that take her arms to restrain her. Mega seems exasperated with her emotional scene, but she wants answers]
Tai-San:  Let me through, let me through!
Mega:  Tai-San.
Tai-San:  Mega, I just heard! You've set a trap for the Mall Rats.
Mega:  You weren't supposed to know about this.
Tai-San:  You programmed me. What was I meant to do when they arrived, watch them get blasted?
Mega:  Blast 'em yourself if you were really one of us, but I guess you failed that test. Get her out of here.

[The two guards escort a struggling Tai-San back out the door]
[Outside the Hotel, the Mallrats move into position for the attack. Salene, May, and a couple Ecos go under a fence and hide behind a car in front of the Hotel. There are Technos lounging on the steps, presumably trying to look lazy. Salene cautions the others crouched behind her as a truck pulls up at the entrance]

Salene:  Get down!
[Salene runs out from the car and uses the truck as cover to get closer to the entrance. She turns back to May and gives the all clear. May uses her walkie talkie to contact the others]
May:  Okay, we're in position.

[The others kick off planks of a fence in the back of the Hotel and squeeze through one by one. Pride responds to May over the walkie talkies]

Pride:  Be careful, May.
[Jay and Ebony move up to crouch behind a few barrels and other junk to scout out the activity inside the building, which they can see through the glassed in corridors. Doesn't seem like the best approach for a surprise attack. Ebony seems to be having second thoughts about the plan in general. She's out of breath from the approach and the suspense, but still voices her concerns to Jay]
Ebony:  As much as I hate to agree with Lex...
Jay:  What's the problem?
Ebony:  I don't know exactly, but something's not right. Jay we have to go, I'm serious.
Jay:  Ebony, this isn't like you.
Ebony:  Look, I don't care, I mean it. Jay, I don't like this. Come on.
Jay:  It's too late to turn back. Look, Ebony, try and relax, Okay? This is payback time.
Ebony:  Yeah, that's what I'm afraid of.
[She's still not happy, but she's not ready to leave Jay behind. Not too far from them, Amber, Lex, Siva, and Pride have ducked down behind a short concrete wall]
Lex:  What are we waiting for?
Amber:  We go in five minutes. Mega was very specific.
Lex:  I bet he was.
Pride:  Are you in or out, Lex?
Lex:  I'm here, aren't I?
[May's voice comes through the walkie talkie in Pride's hand]
May:  "Can you hear me?"
Pride:  Yes, May, I can hear you.

May:  All clear. [But she looks over to see two Technos coming around the truck] Wait a second!
[They're approaching the back of the truck where Salene is hiding. She won't be able to see them coming, and at this point, May can't signal her without alerting them to her presence. They grab her by her arms and pull her to her feet]
Salene:  Get off me!

[She struggles and cries out but can't break free of them. They lead her around the truck and toward the Hotel's entrance]
[Inside the Hotel, Ram is watching this scene on the security monitors. If they take Salene then the other Mallrats will be alerted and won't attack]

Ram:  Get those idiots away from her! They'll ruin everything!

[He turns away and Mega gets on the headset to order them off Salene]
[Salene is still struggling with the two guards and getting more angry by the minute. The Technos hear Mega's voice over the headset]

Salene:  Get your hands off me!
Mega:  "Leave her alone!"
Salene:  Let me go!

[The guards suddenly let Salene go. She's surprised, as much as they are, but takes advantage of it and runs back to the cover of the truck]
[Ram isn't impressed with the guards' actions. Behind him, Mega considers a pair of virtual reality glasses he's holding. He offers them to Ram]

Ram:  Incompetence!
Mega:  Ram, put these on.
Ram:  What are these?
Mega:  It's a new kind of headset I've been working on. It gives you a ringside seat. You get to see all the monitors at once.
Ram:  Ringside seat? I like the sound of that.

[He puts them on and activates the power. Whatever he sees impresses him, and Mega smiles a little devious smile]
[Salene runs back around behind the truck and motions frantically for May and the others to join her. When May crouches beside her, Salene demands to know why she was caught without even a warning]

Salene:  Quick!
May:  Are you Okay?
Salene:  What happened? I thought you were supposed to keep an eye out for me!
May:  Look I'm sorry I- I screwed up!
Salene:  They were gonna arrest me and they just seemed to change their mind.
[Salene can't believe how lucky she was that they released her and you'd think she would be a little suspicious of that. It's May, however, that wants to rethink the plan, but Salene is determined to go through with it]
May:  Look we've gotta warn Pride and the others.
Salene:  No! We gotta attack now, before they get a chance to warn the rest of the Technos! [She seems to assume the guards saw her presence as evidence of a greater attack, though that seems a stretch. Perhaps she's just worried they will increase the guards now that they've found an intruder. She grabs the walkie talkie from May and contacts the others anxiously] Amber, Pride, we gotta go in now! Repeat, attack the Hotel, now!
[Amber, Pride, Siva, Lex, Ebony, and Jay all leave their positions and run towards the Hotel. Behind them, Dee, Patch, Hawk and the rest of the rebels come through the fence and also head towards the Hotel]
[Inside the Hotel, Mega leads a small group of Technos and Java into position facing the doors they expect the Mallrats to come through. They're all armed with zappers and are prepared for deadly force]

Mega:  Get into position! They're coming. Eliminate them all. We take no prisoners.
[The rebels come through the door at a run, yelling and waving their weapons. But the Technos were prepared for them and the laser like bolts from the zappers hit the Mallrats and their allies, apparently killing them. Lex falls, then Pride, Amber, and the others until they all lie motionless on the floor. Java kneels down next to Ebony and checks for a pulse at her neck. She doesn't feel anything and turns to Mega to confirm their success]
Java:  They're all deleted.

[Java looks back down at Ebony, a soft look that might be regret, her hand resting on her sister's back]
[Outside the Hotel, Salene and May wait for some news. They stare intently at the entrance]

May:  I can't hear anything. Do you think...maybe...?
[Salene turns quickly, a stricken look on her face. She tries to convince May, and herself, that they have nothing to worry about]
Salene:  No! Everything's okay. The stun-guns were disabled, remember, we just gotta wait for the signal.

[And they wait, while their friends lie dead on the floor of the Hotel]
[Having seen his enemies defeated, Ram, wearing a white silk robe, is being led towards his future Paradise. His chair moves down a corridor, guards flanking him, Java and Mega at his back. They are quiet and somber in their funeral procession. Ram is taken to a room with a long table and all kinds of machines hooked up to it. Sounds of breathing regulators and heart beat monitors beep in the background. The guards lift him from his chair as Mega speaks to the other Technos in the room]

Mega:  Double check all systems. Your leader's life depends on you now.
Ram:  You know, I really was looking forward to the battle. But try as I might, I cannot take pleasure in the demise of the Mallrats. [Java sobs quietly as Ram is gently laid on the table and the guards begin to affix a breathing mask and tubes to his face] I feel sorry for all of them, the Virts.
Java:  You've earned the right to live in Paradise. After all...you created it.
[She cries, but is making an effort not to break down completely. Ram would want her to be strong. He continues to speak his last, great words while the virtual reality headset is placed over his eyes]
Ram:  We'll all live there one day. Promise me, both of you, that once I'm gone you will not fight, but you will work together.
Java:  I promise.
Mega:  Me too.
[Mega nods at a Techno seated in front of a monitor. He pushes a button and a transparent casing begins to descend from above Ram. It covers the table, and the other Technos connect hoses and tubes to it. Mega gives another nod, and one of them turns a valve on a large tank off to the side. Ram's chamber begins to fill with mist and florescent lights at the edges of the chamber illuminate it. Java finally breaks and throws herself, sobbing and crying, at Ram's "coffin". Her hands claw at the glass, trying to reach the man she loves]
Java:  NO!
Ram:  With your enemies destroyed, this world will be yours to command. Enjoy it, my children. See you in my dreams.
[With those last, patronizing words, Ram apparently enters Paradise. Mega pulls a struggling Java away from the chamber and holds her. But something strange is happening. On a screen, appear the words, "GAME OVER", and Ram's hesitant voice calls out]
Ram:  Java? Mega? [Inside the chamber, his hands begin to wave around frantically] What's going on?! Where are you?!

[He cries and yells, but no one comes for him. What's happened to Ram's Paradise?]
[Something strange is definitely going on. The next scene shows Java's hands being tied by Pride as Amber walks up to her. Amber and Pride are supposed to be dead]

Amber:  Java, isn't it? So how does it feel to be on the receiving end? Not so nice, huh?
[She sneers at Amber as Mega approaches behind her. She turns on him, directing her anger where it belongs]
Mega:  That's all of them.
Jay:  You little weasel. [When Lex arrives, she gets in a shot about his shady business dealings that none of the Mallrats know about]  Hey, Lex! How's business?
Lex:  Take her away.
[She's led off, struggling and angry, as Tai-San appears. Amber is the first to notice her]
Amber:  So Trudy was right.
Lex:  Tai-San, I don't believe it!
[He takes her hands in his as Siva watches them from across the room. Pride goes to stand next to her]
Pride:  What happened to you? Where have you been?
Tai-San:  Prisoner.
Lex:  Well you're free now. The precious Technos are history.
[He gives Mega an unpleasant look as Jay joins the group]
Jay:  Why not forgive and forget, eh, Lex?
Lex:  Why should we?
Jay:  Because Mega was the one who disabled all the weapons.
[And we finally get an explanation for what happened. We flash back to the Mallrats' charge on Mega, Java, and the other Technos]
Siva:  When we all burst in, they tried to fire at us. They were so surprised when they couldn't. [In this version, there are no laser bolts coming from the zappers. Java and the Technos look in confusion at their wrists. From behind them, Mega suddenly brings his fist down on the head of one Techno. The others don't have time to react before the Mallrats reach them and begin attacking. They quickly overpower their enemies and begin cheering. The flashback ends and we see that May and Salene are listening to the explanation. They contribute their view of the events]
May:  We were waiting outside with the second wave of militia.
Salene:  At first we didn't know whether Mega had kept his promise or not.
[We flash back to Salene and May crouched by the truck at the Hotel's entrance]
Salene:  Everything's okay. The stun-guns were disabled, remember? We just gotta wait for the signal.
[Back in the present moment, Tai-San smiles]
Tai-San:  Well you had nothing to worry about. He really helped me.
[Ebony also joins the group]
Ebony:  Tell her the best part.
Mega:  Oh, yeah. Our beloved boss thought everything was going to plan. He only saw what I wanted him to see: the end of the Mallrats. What he didn't realize was, they were virtual Mallrats getting wasted.
Amber:  Siva, Jay, Ebony, Pride, Lex and I had all been scanned. So Mega took those images and put on a little show for Ram.
Mega:  Using his own program. All it took was a specially adapted headset.
[The attack from Ram's perspective is shown on a computer monitor, and we flash back to Ram looking approvingly on Mega's new headset]
Ram:  Ringside seat? I like the sound of that.
Amber:  Payback time.
[Patch steps forward to confirm what they actually did with Ram]
Patch:  And so...? Wait a minute. You're saying that you gave Ram a whole new reality?
Mega:  Including a tearful send off into Paradise. I worked day and night on that one. Even Ram couldn't tell it was fake.
[We flash back to Ram's journey down the corridor, only in reality, he was alone with Mega. His great speech was actually mumbled incoherently to an audience of one]
Ram:  Try as I might...take no pleasure in the demise of the Mallrats.
Patch:  But I mean, what happened to him? Did he end up in Paradise, or what?
Jay:  Not exactly.

[And it's certainly no paradise. He's surrounded by a giant brown sea. Trash and junk and filth. Ram is fighting with his chair, rocking back and forth, banging on it with his fist, but it isn't responding. His wheels just spin ineffectually in the mud]

Ram:  Come on! Come on! Come on! Java?! Mega?! Where am I? This isn't reality space. THIS IS REAL!

[He's been abandoned at a trash dump. The ever powerful Ram, Lord Ram, is now helpless and alone. He yells and screams, spit hanging from his lips, but no one comes]
[Ebony finds Jay in the midst of the cleanup]

Ebony:  I'm sorry I doubted you. Well, it wasn't you so much as Mega.
Jay:  Look, I don't blame anyone for doubting him. Okay, I wasn't absolutely sure myself if you want the truth.
Ebony:  Well I'm happy that everything worked out alright.
Jay:  We can build a better world, everything I've dreamed of.
Ebony:  What about the other dream, Jay? Our dream?
[Jay looks at her with a sad face]
Jay:  You mean us running away together? That was before- Look, we can still be together, if that's what you want.
Ebony:  But is that what you want?
[He seems to hesitate a bit, and who knows what answer he would have given. At that moment, Ebony hears her name echo around them]
Zoot:  Ebony?
[She looks off over Jay's shoulder]
Jay:  What's the matter?
[Again she hears Zoot whispering to her]
Zoot:  I've been waiting for you.
[She doesn't look around for him, she doesn't even look scared. Instead she seems to concentrate, waiting to hear more. But no other voices sound and Jay breaks her concentration]
Jay:  Ebony?
[She focuses on his face again and smiles]
Ebony:  Look, I'm fine. It must just be the excitement. I need a moment, okay?

[Ebony still looks distracted as she leaves and Jay is confused and concerned]
[Nearby, Lex is thrilled to have Tai-San back with him]

Lex:  I really missed you Tai-San.
Tai-San:  I've missed you, too, Lex. [She glances over to see Siva watching them intently] Looks like there've been a few changes while I've been gone.
[He looks at Siva then back at Tai-San and speaks quickly]
Lex:  No! I haven't changed. Have you?
Tai-San:  No. I'm still the same. [She looks over and meets Mega's stare] Just you wait and see.

[Lex smiles, oblivious to the very creepy moment that just passed between Tai-San and Mega. Could they be cooking up something together?]
[A pair of gloved hands is typing something on a computer, connected in some way to Ebony, who walks warily through a hallway. Is she looking for the source of the voices? She's about to find it. The sounds of wind blowing suddenly surround her and again, a whispered voice calls her name]

Zoot:  Ebony?
Ebony:  Who's there?
[The distorted voice echoes again]
Zoot:  Ebony?
[The hands continue to type. Is their owner responsible for the voices? Whoever is, they are succeeding in frightening Ebony, no matter what she says. She walks through a doorway and into a dark room]
Ebony:  I'm not scared of you. [But in front of her is another doorway and through it walks Zoot. Zoot, who is supposed to be dead] What is this?
Zoot:  Did you miss me?
Ebony:  Get away!
Zoot:  Come closer. Let me...look at you.
[She shakes her head, trying desperately to disprove the evidence before her eyes]
Ebony:  No! You're not Zoot! Zoot's dead, it- it's impossible!
Zoot:  All things are possible now that my prophecy's come true.
Ebony:  Your- your prophecy?
